Founded in Albuquerque in 1946 as a small concrete company, Jaynes has grown into one of the largest commercial general contractors serving the Southwest. Today, the 100% employee-owned company builds facilities for education, healthcare, public safety, housing, recreation, and other community needs.
Jaynes will mark the milestone with a gathering today at its Albuquerque corporate office. Attendees will include employee-owners, clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, business partners, vendors, past Jaynes leaders, and invited public officials.
“Eighty years is humbling. I reflect on the projects, communities, and people who made that happen, and I’m inspired. I am just filled with deep gratitude, and thankful that I have gotten to be a part of this extraordinary organization for 31 years,” said Shad James, president and CEO of Jaynes Corporation. “This anniversary belongs to the people who built Jaynes and the clients and partners who trusted them. The best way we can honor that legacy is to create opportunities for the next generation, uphold the commitments we make, and build places that communities will depend on for years to come.”
“Our company was built through the hard work of those who came before us,” said Executive Vice President of Operations Greg Krause. “Those of us here today, and those who follow, have a responsibility to uphold the excellence expected of Jaynes. Thank you to everyone who helped us reach this milestone, including the trade partners who bring their best to our clients and communities.”
A legacy communities use every day
Jaynes’ recent contributions are visible in places that serve residents across New Mexico. At Farmington High School, the company built and renovated spaces for academics, athletics, and the arts while the campus remained active. In Artesia, Jaynes has built numerous community facilities, including the Artesia Public Library, which provides reading rooms and dedicated spaces for children and teens. In Albuquerque, its work on the Southwest Public Safety Center supports coordinated fire, police, and community safety services.
These projects connect the company’s history to everyday community life: students preparing for their futures, families finding places to learn together, and public safety teams serving residents.
“Jaynes has always been a relationship-driven company,” said Executive Vice President Krishna Reddy. “While we have built structures, our clients and partners have built our legacy. They are the bedrock of our 80-year history. We celebrate this occasion with gratitude and look forward to many more decades of successful collaboration.”
Employee ownership and the next chapter
Employee ownership gives Jaynes’ people a personal stake in the company’s future. The anniversary recognizes not only those who built the company, but also the employee-owners helping shape its next chapter.
As Jaynes enters its ninth decade, the company remains focused on developing its people, strengthening its partnerships, and serving the communities that have shaped its history.
